 Nutrient Injections

What are Nutrient Injections?

Alora Wellness & Spa offers a number of injectable compounded nutrient injections (GLOW Shots) which can supplement some dietary deficiencies when trying to lose weight or increase healthy living.  “MIC” injections are typically given one to four times monthly with patients consuming a healthy diet and regular exercise.  “LIPO or MIC” base is Methionine, Inositol, and Choline.  “MIC” injectables help alleviate deficiencies found in some limiting diets.

  • Methionine is an amino acid antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals that damage healthy cells.  It can help with digestion, aids in breaking down fat, increases lean mass and energy.
  • Inositol is a vitamin that is vital for metabolism of fat and cholesterol.  It may help with preventing hardening of the arteries and can help reduce anxiety and depression in some patients.
  • Choline plays a big role in heart health.  It can help reduce accumulation of fat in the liver and also aids in hormone production.

These two MIC components can be individualized with the addition of other nutrients:

  • LIPO (MIC) B is combined with cyanocobalamin, Vitamin B12, for those with poor GI absorption of B12 or long term use of proton pump inhibitor medications like omeprazole.  B12 is required for proper digestion, absorption of foods, synthesis of proteins, and metabolism of fats and carbohydrates.

  • Vitamin B Complex includes MIC with Vitamins B1, B5 as well as B2, which is riboflavin.  Riboflavin aids in growth of cells, energy production, breakdown of fats, and reduces oxidative stress on cells from free radicals.  Diets deficient in dairy products and meat/fish may be deficient.  Vegans, vegetarian, dairy intolerant and pregnant women are most likely to show some deficiency unless compensated in diet or supplemented.

  • Vitamin B12 injection is cyanocobalamin.  B12 as mentioned in is primarily for those who have chronic B12 deficiency or pernicious anemia.
